Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of TomLegal AI and all services operated by TomX Corporation ("TomX," "we," "us," or "our"). This AUP is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Service.
Violations of this AUP may result in suspension or permanent termination of your account, referral to law enforcement, and civil or criminal legal action.
1. Purpose
TomLegal AI is designed to assist legal professionals, students, researchers, and individuals in understanding and researching the law. We provide this Service in good faith and expect users to use it responsibly, lawfully, and ethically.
2. Permitted Uses
You may use TomLegal AI to:
- Research applicable laws, regulations, statutes, and case law
- Draft research memos, summaries, and legal outlines for review by a licensed attorney
- Understand publicly available legal proceedings and court decisions
- Analyze documents you have the legal right to process
- Support academic, journalistic, and educational legal research
3. Prohibited Conduct
3.1 Illegal Activities
You may not use the Service to facilitate, plan, or execute any activity that violates applicable federal, state, local, or international law, including but not limited to:
- Fraud, identity theft, or financial crimes
- Unlicensed provision of legal services where prohibited by law
- Access to or use of privileged court materials you are not authorized to view
- Any activity that constitutes a criminal offense
3.2 Unauthorized Practice of Law
You may not use TomLegal AI to provide legal advice to third parties if you are not licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction. AI-generated research outputs do not constitute a legal opinion and must not be represented as such.
3.3 Misuse of AI Outputs
You may not:
- Present AI-generated research as independently verified legal advice to clients without review and endorsement by a licensed attorney
- Submit AI-generated content to a court, tribunal, or regulatory body without independently verifying every citation, case reference, and legal proposition
- Fabricate, misquote, or misattribute legal citations or case holdings
- Use the Service to generate content intended to deceive courts, arbitrators, or regulatory agencies
- Use outputs to support frivolous litigation or harassment of any person or entity
Legal professionals using TomLegal AI remain personally and professionally responsible for any work product submitted on behalf of clients, regardless of the tools used in its preparation.
3.4 Platform Abuse
You may not:
- Use automated bots, scrapers, crawlers, or scripts to interact with the Service or extract content
- Attempt to exceed usage limits by creating multiple accounts, spoofing IP addresses, or other circumvention techniques
- Share account credentials with any other person
- Resell or sublicense access to the Service without express written permission from TomX
- Probe, scan, or test the security of our systems or networks without authorization
- Attempt to access another user's account, data, or private research sessions
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to extract proprietary source code, model weights, or algorithms
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its infrastructure
3.5 Harmful and Prohibited Content
You may not submit queries or upload files that:
- Contain or solicit content that is defamatory, obscene, or constitutes harassment or threats against any individual
- Include malware, viruses, or any code designed to damage or disrupt systems
- Violate the intellectual property rights of any person or entity
- Contain confidential client information, attorney-client privileged communications, or third-party proprietary data that you are not authorized to disclose or process
- Are designed to generate content intended to harm, defraud, or deceive others
3.6 Misrepresentation
You may not impersonate TomX, its employees, other users, or any other person or entity. You may not misrepresent your affiliation with any organization.
4. File Upload Restrictions
When uploading documents to the Service, you represent and warrant that:
- You own or have a valid license to the uploaded content
- The upload does not contain malicious code
- You are not uploading materials that are subject to legal holds, court orders, or discovery obligations that restrict their processing by third-party AI systems
- You have obtained any necessary consent from individuals whose personal information is contained in the uploaded files
5. Enforcement
TomX reserves the right to investigate any suspected violation of this AUP. Upon investigation, we may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice:
- Issue a warning
- Temporarily suspend your account
- Permanently terminate your account without refund
- Remove or disable access to content that violates this AUP
- Report suspected illegal activity to appropriate law enforcement or regulatory authorities
- Pursue civil legal remedies, including seeking injunctive relief and damages
The exercise of any remedy does not waive our right to pursue additional remedies.
6. Reporting Violations

We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly. We may take action based on a credible report without notifying the reported user in advance.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP at any time. Material changes will be posted on the Service with a new effective date. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of any revision constitutes acceptance of the revised AUP.
